What league do the Jr. Knights play in?

The FHN Jr. Knights compete in the Junior GAC Football League.

What are the ages/divisions for the football players?

The league is divided into 4 divisions grouped by grade with the following age requirements, extrapolated from the MSHSAA rules:

5th Grade  ­Cannot turn 12 before July 1.

6th Grade ­ Cannot turn 13 before July 1.

7th Grade ­ Cannot turn 14 before July 1.

8th Grade ­ Cannot turn 15 before July 1.

Are your coaches background checked?

All coaches are background checked and required to complete USA football tackle football certifications.

Is there a weight limit?

There is no weight limit in the Junior GAC Football League; however, the programs have agreed to consider our league's primary purpose of player development and responsibility for safety regarding older and/or larger players. It may be best for these players to have better competition at the next grade level, the same way the high school promotes freshman players to JV and plays underclassmen on the Varsity.

What schools will we play against?

The current Junior GAC Football League Members are:

Francis Howell North, Francis Howell Central, Francis Howell, Fort Zumwalt South, Fort Zumwalt West, Fort Zumwalt East, For Zumwalt North, Wentzville Holt, Wentzville Timberland, Warrenton, Troy and Washington.

Does my son or daughter need experience to play ?

We accept all skill levels and have a high priority on teaching fundamentals and player safety.

Where do we play our games?

Our home field is Francis Howell North High School athletic field. Away games are typically played at High School fields.

When are games played?

Games are played on Saturdays starting in late August.

Are there trainers at the games?

Certified trainers will be at all JrGAC football games.

How many games are there?

We play a minimum of 7 conference/league games plus playoffs and a championship weekend for those that qualify. Schedules are adjusted from year to year depending on total number of teams.

When does the season start?

Tackle practices typically start in late July. Games typically start in late August and our played on Saturdays.

Does my child need a physical to play football or cheer?

Yes, all participants must have a physical stating they are cleared to play full contact sport.

How often is practice and where do they take place?

Teams typically practice 3 times a week during the week with the schedule determined by the coaches. Some coaches will drop down to 2x/week at some point during the season especially for younger teams. Practices typically run from 6-­8 p.m. at Francis Howell North HS.

Do I have to live in the Francis Howell North attendance area to play for the Jr. Knights?

JrGAC League rules require participants to play for the feeder program in which you reside.

What equipment is needed?

Football - The program will supply each player with a helmet, shoulder pads, practice jersey, mouth­piece, and two game jerseys (one white for away games and one black for home games) the player will need to obtain cleats, practice/game pants, and a cup. note: all program supplied equipment will be returned to the program at the end of the season.

Cheer - The program fees will cover all of the costs needed for your child's custom uniform, which you will own.
